"Realigning hypertension"
A May 8,2007 Chicago Tribune article featured and interview with George Bakris, University of Chicago Professor in Medicine, regarding his study that demonstrated a chiropractic realignment of the Atlas or C1 vertebra can reduce blood pressure. The mean blood pressure subjects who had the adjustment was 147mmHg systolic before adjustment and 129.8mmHg systolic after. The mean diastolic reading was 92.5mmHg before adjustment and 82.3mmHg after. A normal reading for an adult is under 140mmHG for systolic and under 90mmHg for diastolic.
